I would like to think that we have been a part of each other's growth.

Lately, I have been thinking about how editing is like gardening. As an editor and as a gardener, I work with that which grows out of the seeds that are planted, sometimes through intentional cultivation and often without deliberate intervention, always honoring the growth I find. In this issue of Visual Arts Research, as we present the work of several emerging scholars and honor their growth, I consider how the growth of all of us is interrelated.

The journal has a long history of publishing the research of emerging scholars in the field of art education. A connecting thread that I see in the work of the authors in this issue is that they have invited us into their growth through their artistic and scholarly inquiry....
