MELVIN L. BASHORE retired in 2013 after over working over thirty-eight years with the Church Historical Department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He started as a librarian and concluded his career as a curator of historic sites. During his years with the church, he was widely published in historical journals. He continues to write and publish. His most recent article appears in the fall 2022 issue of Oregon Historical Quarterly. Bashore and his wife, the former Karen Lindorff, have been married for fifty-five years. They met when he was in art school and Jeanne Lindorff was an associate professor in the University of Utah art department.
