Abstract

An interview with Mira Puacz, the retiring longtime owner of Polonia Bookstore in Chicago. For nearly half a century Polonia Bookstore functioned as a leading center of Polish literary and artistic activity in Chicago, and the entire United States. Among other matters, the discussion covers the founding of the store in 1969 by Edward Puacz, the interviewee’s late husband, its contacts with Polish authors and Polish scholars and publishing houses in emigration, and its own catalogue of publications.
