Robert Bubczyk is an associate professor of history in the Institute for Cultural Studies at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. He specializes in the cultural history of the Middle Ages. He is the author of three scholarly books, including Gry na szachownicy w kulturze dworskiej i rycerskiej średniowiecznej Anglii na tle europejskim (2009) in which he investigates the role that chess and other board games played in the social and cultural life of medieval Europe. He is also the author of over eighty other works, including articles and chapters in edited volumes, published in Polish and English. His most recent project deals with religious rituals of war.
