Introduction

John J. Bukowczyk is a professor of history at Wayne State University in Detroit and editor of the Ohio University Press Polish and Polish-American Studies Series. A past president of the Polish American Historical Association and former editor of the Journal of American Ethnic History, he has published numerous works in the fields of immigration and ethnic history and Polish American studies, including A History of the Polish Americans and, as editor, Polish Americans and Their History: Community, Culture, and Politics.
