Abstract
This article examines the relationship of Anna Cienciala with the influential publications of the Literary Institute in Maisons- Laffitte, France, as reflected in her correspondence with the publications’ editor, Jerzy Giedroyc. Their exchanges spanned a quarter century. Although the collaboration between Cienciala and Giedroyc was not as extensive as that between the institute and other Polish scholars living abroad and was not without tension in some respects, both historian and editor demonstrated great mutual personal and professional respect for each other.
