About the Journal

Scandinavian Studies, official journal of the Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study, focuses on the languages, cultures, and histories of the Nordic region, including the countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. It is an interdisciplinary journal spanning work in the humanities and social sciences, and as such serves as an outlet for original research in the languages, literatures, histories, cultures, and societies of the region, ranging from medieval to contemporary times.

Join the Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study

Founded in 1911, the Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study has as its objectives: 1. The promotion of Scandinavian study and instruction in America; 2. The encouragement of original research in this country in the fields of Scandinavian languages, literatures, history, culture, and society and the publication of the results of such research in the quarterly journal Scandinavian Studies; 3. The fostering of closer relations between persons interested in Scandinavian studies in North America and elsewhere.
