Even before a pandemic shut down global travel throughout the world, and militias rose up to assert their right to move about freely at the expense of their neighbors, that is, even before all this made us crave an escape, I suspect that most people would disagree with Emerson that traveling is a waste of time. Those of us who have the luxury to travel to another state or country eagerly make a point of doing so, checking locations off a lifelong bucket list like ticking items off the week's groceries.
