Film Music Bibliography 2009

Robert Kosovsky is currently Curator of Rare Books and Manuscripts for the Music Division of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. He also teaches music theory in the Extension Division of Mannes College The New School for Music. At the library he has processed archival collections of Heinrich Schenker, John Cage, and numerous others. He has written reviews for Notes. He has a Ph.D. from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, where he wrote a dissertation, “Bernard Herrmann’s Radio Music for the ‘Columbia Workshop’.”

Danijela Kulezic-Wilson ([email protected]) studied musicology at the University of Belgrade and obtained her PhD at the University of Ulster, UK. Her present research focuses on approaches to film that emphasize its inherent musical properties, the musicality of sound design in European and American Independent film and musical aspects of Beckett’s plays. Her publications include essays on film rhythm, musical and film time, P.T. Anderson’s Magnolia, Prokofiev’s music for Eisenstein’s films, Darren Aronofsky’s Pi and Jim Jarmusch’s Dead Man. She teaches film music and comparative arts at University College Cork in Ireland.

Warren M. Sherk is a composer and archivist. As music specialist at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Margaret Herrick Library, he has cataloged the manuscript collections of Jerry Goldsmith, Alex North, and others. He also works extensively as an orchestration proofreader in the field of music preparation for film and has provided orchestrations for films from Dragonheart: A New Beginning to Like Mike. His book, Film and Television Music: A Guide to Books, Articles, and Composer Interviews, is forthcoming from Scarecrow Press. He serves as Secretary of the Film Music Society.
