Lavina Fielding Anderson's belief in the importance of Mormon History blessed the Journal of Mormon History, its staff, and its authors. As the sole editor from 1991–2009, she expanded the journal from an annual to a quarterly. She encouraged scholars, solicited their papers, and forced them out of their comfort zones to publish ground-breaking articles. She worked with a board of editors, an executive committee, and copy editors who benefited from her expertise. She directed designers and typesetters to create handsome volumes. When she was no longer editor, she continued as copy editor and essentially production manager for eight years.
