The Refiner’s Fire: In Retrospect
JOHN L. BROOKE {brooke.10@osu.edu} is a Humanities Distinguished Professor of History and Anthropology at the Ohio State University. He divides his time these days between the history of public life in early America and global environmental history. His most recent books are Columbia Rising: Civil Life on the Upper Hudson from the Revolution to the Age of Jackson (Chapel Hill: University of North Carolina Press and the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture, 2010), and Climate Change and the Course of Global History: A Rough Journey (New York: Cambridge University Press, 2014).
