Franklin E. Court, emeritus professor of English at Northern Illinois University, is the author of five books and a score of journal articles mostly on subjects related to British literary history. In his retirement he has gotten particularly interested in the history of the early American Northwest Territory, especially the early history of Illinois and Wisconsin writers, many of them pioneer women writing and publishing historical autobiographical journals. His latest book, Pioneers of Ecological Restoration: The People and Legacy of the University of Wisconsin Arboretum, was published in 2012 by the University of Wisconsin Press.
