The Cutback Amendment of 1980: Unintended Consequences of Pat Quinn’s Reforming Zeal
Mark R. DePue (B.S., U.S. Military Academy; M.A. and Ph.D., History, University of Iowa) served in the U.S. army as well as the Illinois National Guard, retiring from the army in 2001. He taught at Western Illinois University and several other colleges before becoming Director of Oral History at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library in 2006. He has given numerous talks on military history subjects and is the author of two books, most recently Patrolling Baghdad: A Military Police Company and the War in Iraq (2007).
