People can find nestled in Wisconsin's Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest an opportunity to become “time travelers.” Passing through the gates at Old World Wisconsin (OWW), people are welcomed to an expansive, 576-square-acre living history farm featuring recreated versions of the Badger State's immigrant and agricultural past. Among the experiences delineating the seventy years of history covered at the museum is a particularly striking site recounting how Finnish immigrants created new lives and carried on old traditions in the state. Known as the 1910s Finnish Immigrant Farm (1910 FIF), this farmstead offers guests of all ages opportunities to experience the sights, sounds, and even smells of a period farm complete with heritage livestock and heirloom gardens. Under the direction of an experience facilitator (EF), a costumed third-person interpreter, the fear of a stodgy museum environment evaporates, as children and adults are invited to get messy helping roll out pulla dough....
