Norma E. Cantú, Norine R. and T. Frank Murchison Distinguished Professor of the Humanities at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, served as the President of the American Folklore Society (2019–2021). She is Professor Emerita in English at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Founder and director of the Society for the Study of Gloria Anzaldúa, she organized El Mundo Zurdo, a gathering of Anzalduístas from 2007–2019. She is a folklorist, scholar, poet, and novelist whose scholarly and creative focus is on the United States-Mexico borderlands; her most recent publications include the novel Cabañuelas (2019); Meditación Fronteriza: Poems of Love, Life, and Labor (2019), and the coedited anthologies Entre Guadalupe y Malinche: Tejanas in Literature and Art (with Inés Hernández-Ávila, 2016), meXicana Fashions: Politics, Self-Adornment, and Identity Construction (with Aída Hurtado, 2020), Teaching Gloria Anzaldúa: Pedagogy and Practice for Our Classrooms and Communities (with Margaret Cantú-Sánchez and Candace de León-Zepeda, 2020), and the Critical Edition of Borderlands/la Frontera: The New Mestiza (with Ricardo F. Vivancos-Pérez, 2021).
