Focusing on por por music, this multimedia project is the result of over a decade of collaboration and research involving the Driver's Union in Ghana, Ghanaian oral historian Nii Yemo Nunu, American ethnomusicologist Steven Feld, and German photographer Hannah Schreckenbach. Por por music is a genre that utilizes squeeze-bulb honk horns, bells, drums, and voices to convey the feelings of union drivers through music. This multimedia exploration tells the story of Ghana's honk horn lorries and por por music in unique ways. It includes two documentaries, providing a powerful narrative from the members of the La Drivers Union who recount the history of their vehicles and the invention of por por music. The music CD Klebo! comprises compositions, adaptations, and arrangements by artistic director Nii Tetteh Boye La and practitioners VoxLox and BMI.
