Some sports in Connecticut are overshadowed by the teams in New York City and Boston. While many of Connecticut's greatest athletes have ties to these metropolises, their true legacy lies in the Nutmeg State. The Greenwich Historical Society's exhibit, “Sports! More than Just a Game,” showcases this history. Open from March 8 to September 3, the collection includes memorabilia, photographs, and lays up a great deal of nostalgia. The exhibit includes professional, Olympic, collegiate, and recreational sports that have ties back to the town of Greenwich. As Debra L. Mecky, Executive Director and GEO and the Greenwich Historical Society expressed it in one of the videos associated with this exhibit: “This exhibition recognizes the essential role sports play in American life, and the extraordinary role of Greenwich as the home of professional athletes, and sports history, school, and club teams.”
