The Religious Qualities of Naturalistic God Metaphors: Introducing the Debate
Demian Wheeler is Associate Professor of Philosophical Theology and Religious Studies and Director of Advanced Studies at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. He holds a Ph.D. from Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York, where he specialized in American liberal theology. Wheeler is the author of Religion within the Limits of History Alone: Pragmatic Historicism and the Future of Theology (State University of New York Press, 2020) and the co-editor (with David E. Conner) of Conceiving an Alternative: Philosophical Resources for an Ecological Civilization (Process Century Press, 2019).
Daniel J. Ott is associate professor of religious studies and Chair of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Monmouth College, Monmouth, Illinois. His articles and review articles have appeared in Theology Today, Political Theology, and the American Journal of Theology and Philosophy. He is co-author with Hannah Schell of Christian Thought in America: A Brief History (Fortress Press, 2015).
