In February 2024, the University of Illinois Press (UIP) and I agreed I would succeed the late Dr. Robert W. Proctor, long-time professor of psychology at Purdue University, as editor of the American Journal of Psychology (AJP). Naturally, it has been an immense honor for me, as the journal needs no introduction, standing tall on its long tradition (dating back to 1887) of publishing innovative and formative papers exploring the science of the mind and behavior.
Having interacted with Robert in his role as AJP Editor (which he performed expertly from 2009 to 2023), I understood the responsibility of aspiring to continue his modus operandi and being collegial and fair to authors and contributors while treating both the authors and the science with due respect.
