Sean Metzger is a professor in the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television. The author of Chinese Looks: Fashion, Performance, Race (2014) and The Chinese Atlantic: Seascapes and the Theatricality of Globalization (2020), Metzger currently coedits Theatre Journal. His other coedited works include Embodying Asian/American Sexualities (2009); Futures of Chinese Cinema: Technologies and Temporalities in Chinese Screen Cultures (2009); Race, Space, Place: The Making and Unmaking of Freedoms in the Atlantic World (2009); Islands, Images, Imaginaries (2014); Awkward Stages: Plays about Growing Up Gay (2015); Expressions of Asian Caribbeanness (2019); Transient Performance (2020); and The Methuen Drama Handbook of Gender and Theatre (2024).

Marike Splint is a Dutch French-Tunisian theatre-maker based in Los Angeles, specializing in creating public-space work that explores the relationship between people, places, and identity. Presenters and commissioners of her original work include La Jolla Playhouse, UCLA Center for the Art of Performance, Skirball Cultural Center LA (USA); Oerol Festival, Over het IJ Festival (The Netherlands); Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires (Argentina); Urbane Kuenste Ruhr (Germany); and GeoAIR (Tbilisi, Georgia). She coedited the book Tbilisi—It’s Complicated, comprising artistic accounts that critically reflect on recent urban and social changes in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi. She serves as a faculty member in the Department of Theater at UCLA.
