Adapting Gaskell: Screen and Stage Versions of Elizabeth Gaskell's Fiction
Patsy Stoneman ([email protected]) is emeritus reader in English at the University of Hull (UK). She is the author of Elizabeth Gaskell (2nd ed. 2006) and of numerous works on the Brontës, including Brontë Transformations: the Cultural Dissemination of ‘Jane Eyre’ and ‘Wuthering Heights’ (1996), and Jane Eyre on Stage 1848-1898: an illustrated edition of eight plays with contextual notes (2007). She has provided Introduction and Notes for the Wordsworth edition of Gaskell's North and South (2002). Her most recent book is Charlotte Brontë in the Northcote House Writers and their Works series (2013).
