After more years than he cares to remember, John Pfeiffer has stepped down as the editor of “A Continuing Checklist of Shaviana”—nominally, that is. His tireless work thus far is more than enough reason to thank him for his phenomenal contribution to Shaw studies. In addition, beyond the call of duty, he has provided invaluable support for the present edition of the Checklist in the form of advice, suggestions, insightful comments, bibliographical research (some of the annotations in this year's Checklist have been generously drafted by John—when not written in full). This is not to mention the savoir faire that only someone who has been doing this so well for so long can possess. I am greatly indebted to John for everything he has done over the last twelve months. Fittingly, this has been, in short, a Pygmalion-like story. Now the rain of tractates stays mainly in Spain.
