Abstract
Published between 1901 and 1920, The Maccabaean served as the official periodical of the Federation of American Zionists (FAZ) and was the flagship publication of the American Zionist movement. This article explores the history of The Maccabaean’s publication and analyzes its journalistic perspective. Additionally, it examines one of the periodical’s most unexpected aspects: the relatively high percentage of female contributors. The article analyzes both quantitatively and qualitatively the significant contributions made by women to the periodical.
