abstract

At the spring meeting of the Pennsylvania Academy of Science, held at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2018, a group of scientists and advocates got together to deliver a symposium on alternative energy in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania has a rich and diverse energy history. Today, the state stands at a crossroads between the fossil fuels it has been dependent upon in the past and the renewables such as wind and solar that appear to be the energy sources of the future. The immediate path taken will largely be dependent on the true and perceived costs and benefits of the various energy alternatives.
