Welcome to the relaunching of The Langston Hughes Review (LHR). Our goal is to project Langston Hughes's artistic vision and cultural values into contemporary intellectual discourse. LHR is the official journal of the Langston Hughes Society, and will be published biannually. We will feature articles that situate Hughes and other writers in multiple aesthetic frameworks, historical backdrops, and geopolitical contexts. Since Hughes excelled in so many cultural roles—poet, novelist, playwright, cultural historian, editor, and more—his influence was indelible in black expressive culture. Consequently, we will occasionally feature analyses of some artists and intellectuals for the express purpose of demonstrating the full extent of Hughes's legacy. We aim to publish prescient material that will engage readers with varying degrees of knowledge about Hughes and the Harlem Renaissance. Our publication extends an illustrious history.
