Although there has been doubt about whether the concept of language teaching methods is useful or valid (Kumaravadivelu, 2006; Prabhu, 1990), a study of teaching methodology still plays an essential role in teacher education (Larsen-Freeman & Anderson, 2011), and Approaches and Methods in Language Teaching has been one of the “must-read” books for second/foreign language teachers and teacher educators. This popular book was written by Jack C. Richard, an honorary professor in the faculty of education and social work at the University of Sydney, and Theodore S. Rodgers, a professor of psycholinguistics at the University of Hawaii.
