ABSTRACT

This article looks at Perspective, an academic quarterly that was privately funded and had major influence in the development of the canon in American literature. After giving a history of Perspective, the article uses statistical analysis, network diagramming, and network analysis to understand the shifting taste in the creation of the canon. There is more work that can be done in the field, and new technologies and programs may shed light on this issue.
