The life of a journal is rarely dull. In addition to encountering insightful and creative scholarship through the years, a journal forges a space in which people interested in overlapping ideas and concerns can gather. Many of these people take a leadership role in a journal to help shape its trajectory, scope, and depth. The importance of such volunteers cannot be overstated: they carry forward the work of a particular journal and in so doing they nourish a broader field. And, in time, some individuals move on to other adventures.
