ABSTRACT

The Lebanese coastal town of Tyre was a major Frankish Levantine city. Until recently, the archaeological evidence of this period was neglected in favor of the more impressive Roman and Byzantine monumental ruins. This article attempts to fill this gap by exploring, in light of recent studies, Crusader architectural remains, mainly defensive and religious structures, that are still standing today.
