GIUSEPPE GARBATI is an archaeologist who specializes in historical-religious studies of the Phoenician culture. His research is focused on cults, rituals, sacred places, votive materials, and the morphology of Phoenician deities. Graduated (1998) in Phoenician and Punic archaeology at the University of Tuscia in Viterbo (Italy), he obtained his PhD (2006) in “The Mediterranean in the Classical Age: History and Cultures” (University of Sassari, Italy). A researcher at ISPC–CNR since 2009, he coordinates the project “MAGO, Making Gods: The Role of Ritual Practice in the Construction of Divine Morphologies” (https://www.ispc.cnr.it/en/2021/01/26/phoenician-and-punic-research-group/). He is a member of the Italian Society of History of Religions and the author of several scientific publications.
