Abstract
Recent critical insights related to the application of evolutionary psychology and cognitive studies to the study of literature are incorporated into lesson plans for a particular undergraduate English novels course. I focus on George Eliot's Middlemarch (1871–72) and outline plans for employing the concept of theory of mind.
