ABSTRACT

This article documents and assesses the growth of the Harold Pinter Archive at the British Library from the initial deposit on loan in 1993, through the permanent acquisition in 2007. The article also summarizes all of the Pinter-related additions to the Library's archival holdings since 1993 and relates new discoveries in Pinter's letters to his work for the theatre. The coauthors, who worked on the Pinter archive at different periods, offer personal perspectives on archiving Pinter, and on the processes and events, both inside and external to the British Library, relating to the acquisition of the papers and then their expansion.
