Abstract

A single session with Fredrick Perls, M.D., that was conducted 6 months prior to his death is transcribed from a verbatim recording. A statement-by-statement analysis of Gestalt processes that accompanies this report includes attention to foreground issues, projection, introjection, deflection, experiments, and regression. This enriches the figure and presents an example of the method that provides the means to uncover hidden aspects of childhood and reclaim lost facets of the personality. This look at Perls at work offers insight into the content and process that caught his attention and gives the reader examples of his methods, style, and interests.
