Abstract

Miriam Polster, one of the most well-known Gestalt therapists in the world, died on December 19, 2001. Her writing and teaching have influenced generations of Gestalt therapists over the past 30 years. She was not only well known, but well loved. We were asked to write about Miriam's life, the highlights of her professional career, and her contributions to Gestalt therapy. We have included the words of others who also knew and loved Miriam, including excerpts from answers to questions about Miriam and their life together provided by her husband, colleague, and life partner, Erving Polster. We have attempted to capture some of what made Miriam so special to so many.
