Abstract
This article attempts to introduce the reader to an exploration of the concept of self-esteem as it applies to Gestalt therapy over time. The article also attempts to take seriously the construct of self-esteem, which has been considered “pop psychology” and attempt to define it in serious clinical terms. In addition, the author is attempting to define self-esteem, focusing on the development of positive-assimilated introject, defusing the negative introject, and identifying management or self-care beliefs.
