Abstract
Emotional intelligence is the most essential component of leadership and professional coaching. Emotional intelligence is directly correlated with coaching through a Gestalt perspective since, in a coaching relationship, Gestalt coaches are leaders of a client's personal and/or professional process. Despite the minimal research surrounding Gestalt theory in relation to coaching, it is imperative to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence, Gestalt theory, and professional coaching. Emphasizing emotional intelligence as Gestalt theory is incorporated into coaching will raise the awareness of leaders and coaches working to enhance the opportunity for a client's overall growth and development. It is also important to explore how professional coaching can be influenced by the empirical research and theories of emotional intelligence.
