Reading The Age of Innocence in France

virginia ricard is an associate professor at the Université Bordeaux Montaigne where she teaches American literature and translation. She has published a number of articles on Jewish American writers, including Henry Roth, Saul Bellow, Eva Hoffman, and Ludwig Lewisohn. In 2012 she guest-edited a special issue of the Journal of the Short Story in English on Wharton's short stories. She has recently published two articles on Edith Wharton, one in English, “Walking in Wartime: Edith Wharton's ‘The Look of Paris’” (Palgrave 2016), and one in French, “La Conviction jubilatoire d'Edith Wharton” (Modernités 2016).
