Medieval Ballads in Miniature and Our New Gold: Collaborative Theatre Projects in the Digital Era

Glenda Y. Nieto-Cuebas is an associate professor and the George and Louise Peters Professor of World Languages and Cultures at Ohio Wesleyan University. Her upper-level courses, publications, and research focus on studying early-modern Spanish literature, especially seventeenth-century theatre and its contemporary productions. Nieto-Cuebas is co-editor of the volume Social Justice in Spanish Golden Age Theatre (2021, University of Toronto Press) and has published many book chapters and peer-reviewed articles focused on Hispanic classical theatre.

Jasmine Lew is a student at Ohio Wesleyan University, 2022. She is majoring in theatre, with minors in Spanish and education. She is pursuing a license in theatre education, and hopes to use this license to create great art with students and peers. She is especially passionate about devised and applied theatre, and how these forms can make theatre more accessible, and further, how they can be used to make social change.

Paula Rodríguez is an award-winning actor and theater-maker. Her research assists her creative mission adapting and staging classical texts to the present time in collaborating with diverse artists from multidisciplinary backgrounds. Paula trained at the RESAD(Madrid) and RCSSD, (London). She has worked internationally, including National Classical Theatre Company, Corral de Alcalá, Festival de Almagro (Spain) Bridge Theatre, Young Vic, Orange Tree, and Chichester Festival (UK). In 2015, Paula co-founded Teatro Inverso, a company specializing in reinventing the plays from the Spanish Golden Age for modern audiences, touring in the USA, Latin America, and Europe. Paula is also a writer, translator, artistic director, and producer. Her recent projects include The Other Solos Shakespeare, a series of YouTube monologues celebrating migrants, and AURIC, a gig theater show fusing classical poetry and contemporary music. Paula is the director of OUR NEW GOLD International Digital Storytelling Fest.

Hannah Treadway Hannah Treadway is a graduate student and instructor in Hispanic Linguistics in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies at the University of Florida. She holds a B.A. with honors in Spanish and music from Ohio Wesleyan University. Her current research interests include bilingualism, psycholinguistics, bilingual sentence processing, and Spanish-English code-switching, especially the code-switching intuitions of second-language learners of Spanish.
