Gender and the Gaze: Sor Juana, Lacan, and Spanish Baroque Poetry Available to Purchase
Matthew D. Stroud is Professor of Modern Languages at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. He is the author of a scholarly edition and translation of Calderon's Celos aun del aire matan, a fully sung zarzuela whose modern premiere he produced in 1981. He has written two monographs, Fatal Union: A Pluralistic Approach to the Spanish Wife-Murder Comedias, and The Play in the Mirror: Lacanian Perspetives on Spanish Baroque Theater, both published by Bucknell UP. In addition to numerous articles, he has also helped to make Spanish language and literature, including the comedia, accessible via the Internet. He is currently studying the comedia in light of queer theory.
