Abstract
This work studies the impact of the Gongoristic polemics in the city of Seville. In order to do that, a group of writers who commented and praised Góngora during the XVII century is firstly examined. Secondly, the few testimonies of the slow acceptance of Góngora’s poetics within the humanistic circles of the city are compiled and interpreted, and some proofs of the resistance and opposition to this new poetry are provided. Finally, the article analyzes the relation with Seville of three manuscripts very significant for the transmission of the Gongoristic controversy.
Resumen
El presente trabajo estudia el impacto que la polémica gongorina tuvo en Sevilla. Con ese fin se examinan, en primer lugar, las nóminas de autores que comentaron y loaron a Góngora en el siglo XVII. También se recogen e interpretan los pocos testimonios que han quedado de la paulatina aceptación de la poética gongorina en los círculos humanísticos de la ciudad, y se presentan algunas pruebas de la oposición y resistencia a la nueva poesía. Finalmente, se analiza la relación con Sevilla de tres manuscritos muy significativos para la transmisión de la controversia gongorina.
