This volume on the Peshitta text of Isaiah (hereafter, P-Isa) originated as a doctoral dissertation written under the supervision of Craig E. Morrison at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, now revised for inclusion in the series Supplements to the Textual History of the Bible. Prior studies of the Peshitta Old Testament have mainly focused on its character as a text-critical witness and the translation techniques adopted by its translators. Many portions of the Peshitta Old Testament have been analyzed with these goals in mind, providing an ever-increasing precision to our understanding of the textual history of this ancient version.
