In the preface, the editors explain that this volume is a collection of important methodological approaches for examining the ethical data of the Bible. The roster of contributors comprises sixteen international scholars who bring a vast array of disciplinary expertise but who approach the biblical text primarily from a Protestant perspective. Rather than being a series of disconnected and contrasting approaches to biblical ethics, the volume is dialogical in nature. The individual chapters evidence dialogue among the contributors as the chapters were taking their final shape. The book, as a whole, tries to bridge the disciplines of OT and NT ethics by bringing the two sets of collected approaches into conversation with one another. In this dialogical spirit, the remainder of my review will focus on these points of interaction among the contributors and their approaches, and thus not every essay will be discussed.
