From start to finish, The New Testament in Comparison: Validity, Method, and Purpose in Comparing Traditions, is precisely the type of compilation that makes for interesting reading. Helpful for NT scholars, students, and those interested in comparative literature, the following volume began as conference papers for an NT symposium in Durham, UK, in June 2017. The subject of the conference was the exercise of comparison in relation to NT studies. As the conference proceeded, C. Kavin Rowe’s book One True Life became a much-discussed lightning rod among the contributors. True to the conference, the following volume has several essays that interact with Rowe’s work. Because of the nature of the subject, the book is not divided into clear-cut sections but rather has many overlapping themes and ideas. Simon Gathercole, Jonathan A. Linebaugh, and Matthew V.
