Dr. W. Dennis Tucker Jr. is Professor of Christian Scriptures at George W. Truett Theological Seminary and the series editor for the Baylor Handbook on the Hebrew Bible. The first edition of Jonah: A Handbook on the Hebrew Text (2006) was the series’ inaugurating volume. With that “commentary,” Tucker introduced the series, which was “singular in focus—to consider the Hebrew text and related issues, syntactic and otherwise” (2006, p. 2). In contrast to a more traditional commentary, Tucker’s second edition of Jonah is designed merely to “anticipate and address significant questions that might emerge” in reference to the Hebrew text (p. 2; emphasis mine).
