This publication is the 11th volume in the Brill Josephus Project (the published volumes use the series title Flavius Josephus: Translation and Commentary, while the authors use the abbreviation BJP to refer to other volumes in the series, which is edited by Steve Mason) and the 7th volume in the commentary of Josephuss Judean Antiquities. Earlier commentaries on the books of the Antiquities have been written by L. H. Feldman (Ant. 14), C. T. Begg (Ant. 57), C. T. Begg and P. Spilsbury (Ant. 810), G. Lembi and J. W. van Henten (Ant. 14), J. W. van Henten (Ant. 15), and D. Schwartz (Ant. 1820).
