We are delighted to introduce readers to the inaugural issue of AMP: American Music Perspectives, a new journal dedicated to the wide-ranging genres that comprise American music and culture. It is our fervent hope that AMP will afford scholars with a forum for addressing a wide range of topics associated with the individual artists and groups that define the American musical tapestry, including the songs and albums that comprise their output; the evolving music industry in which they work; and the social issues at the heart of American music and its broad history.

At Monmouth University, we are privileged to conduct music scholarship at the home of the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music, as well as at one of the charter Grammy Museum affiliate institutions.
