The journal ab-Original was launched to a packed local and international audience of scholars, writers, scientists, artists, performers, Indigenous community members, and the general public at a special “Sydney Ideas” event, titled “Gatekeeping,” at the University of Sydney on September 14, 2017. You can “visit” that event on the university's website at http://sydney.edu.au/sydney_ideas/lectures/2017/gatekeeping_ab-0riginal_launch_forum.shtml. The diverse audience at the launch was a fair indication of the journal's early reach beyond the academic community, and ab-Original is already provoking wide international interest. I have traveled the world since the first issue came out in June 2017, from Pakistan to Europe, across to Chile in South America and back to China. Scholars and Indigenous community members have expressed to me great excitement about the appearance of a journal with a such broad reach of scholarship in Indigenous studies. I thank all our first contributors for a fine line up of thought-provoking articles...
