Tabled for Discussion: A Conversation with Game Designer Michael De Anda
Carly A. Kocurek is assistant professor of Digital Humanities and Media Studies and director of Digital Humanities at the Illinois Institute of Technology. She is codeveloper of Choice: Texas (www.playchoicetexas.com), an interactive fiction game about reproductive health-care access. Her research focuses on the history and culture of video games; her book, Coin-Operated Americans: Rebooting Boyhood at the Video Game Arcade is forthcoming from University of Minnesota Press.
Michael De Anda is a game designer based in Chicago; he holds an MS in Interactive Media and Game Design from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Technical Communication at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He has spoken on game design at regional and national conferences and conventions, including GaymerX, the Southwest Popular/American Culture Association, and INTERPLAY.
