Enrique Díaz Álvarez is a Professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), in the School of Political and Social Sciences, where he teaches political philosophy and art and power. He is the author of El traslado. Narrativas contra la idiotez y la barbarie (Debate-Penguin Random House, 2015). He has published numerous articles in academic journals and held the Nelson Mandela Chair of Arts and Human Rights at UNAM. This essay was written as part of the Research Project “Politics and Affects in Contexts of Violence” (PAPIIT IA301720) approved by DGAPA-UNAM.
