D. VINCENT RIORDAN is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and practices as a consultant psychiatrist with West Cork Mental Health Service, Bantry Hospital, County Cork, Ireland. He is a former lecturer at the Centre for Rural Health Research and Policy, Inverness, Scotland, UK, where his research interests included the epidemiology of suicide and suicidal behavior. He also has an interest in the evolutionary origins of mental illness and in the application of mimetic theory to evolutionary psychiatry.
